I am someone who likes helping people. I enjoyed working with the residents at Kong Wai Shiu hospital. There, I had an opportunity to spend quality time with the elderly residents. I played games with them, did some gardening together, and even took walks at the nearby park. Playing games with them gave me a chance to see them for who they really are: people, like my own grandparents, who are just starved for company. Although communication was difficult, I shamelessly engaged with them using my embarrassingly poor Mandarin. I gave them some time and effort and in turn, they shared with me their lifetime of dreams, hopes. It was hardly an equitable trade. I gained so much more from our time together, and I will always value the experiences at Kong Wai Shiu hospital.
